Knees up for RCK Fundraiser 2.0

After our first fundraiser in May, we were overwhelmed with the love and support we received during the party. We collectively fundraised just over £1.5k for Refugee Community Kitchen. A massive big ups to everyone who donated or shaked a leg, we love you!

This time round, we return to our beloved Boat Live, our party falling in the later part of hot, sweaty August in the heart of Hackney Wick. We're excited to invite some old and new faces behind the decks for this one!

Hailing from Jersey & Chicago, we welcome Mvcoko a DJ who's style tends to blend techno with Ghetto House and Footwork with drum n bass to make sure the dance floors on fire at all times. Mvcoko's fondness for mixing the deeper end of house through to the tougher end of techno and club music makes them perfect for the closing slot. A member of the HOWL collective, Mvcoko is also web designer and set designer based in London. Muy talentosa!

Next, we welcome Felix CW, host of a popping Balamii radio residency. A proud member of the Brighter Days family, FelixCW has some of the crispest sounding UK productions in the scene. Playing memorable sets this year at Meadows in the Mountains festival with the Brighter Days Family and last year at Keep Hush b2b Bakey, FelixCW has been making movements across Europe and the UK. He's played alongside some of the biggest names in the scene from Nia Archives, Dr Dubplate, Coco Bryce and many more. We can't wait to have him grace the decks. Scroll down to hear one of his saucy mixes...

Last but not least, we are very excited to have LulaRoo slap the bass and funk into Boat Live with her unique blends of Blues, funk, ska and jungle. Her sassy, smooth and slapping grooves will provide the perfect soundtrack for an August eve Friday night sunset. Woop!

Usual faces Jam Scones, Wasabi Needle and Stillgiles will play some muy muy tasteful sounds guaranteed to slide you into them dizzying dance frenzies we saw last time. You know the score.

Can’t wait to see all your gorgeous faces…

Love Isaac & Noah (Refugee Community Kitchen)

Saatchi Sweet Harmony Exhibition Late in Support of RCK

Line-up

Chris Liberator
BadGirlz (SP23)
Steve Bedlam
Jam Scones
Huggy

As part of Saatchi Gallery's LATES series for Sweet Harmony : Rave | Today, attendees are invited to enjoy exclusive after-hours access to the exhibition which includes a choice of partying in our Vinyl Record Shop and Rave Room where DJ Chris Liberator, BadGirlz (SP23/Spiral Tribe), Steve Bedlam, Jam Scones and Huggy play a fireband mix of Acid, Hard Techno and Rave.

Bringing free flow beats and rolling rhythms are BadGirlz from SP23 Sound System; a creative collective of musicians that instigated the mighty Spiral Tribe Sound System as well as the underground recording studio and vinyl distribution organisation Network23.

Their reputation for the best and boldest underground raves (on beaches, up mountains or deep within the derelict industrial sprawl) preceded them. On an unstoppable roll across Britain and Europe, their convoy of sound system trucks rapidly became known as the source of a deep and inspiring fugitive groove.

From the UK Underground party to the Refugee Community Kitchen (RCK) in Calais, come and meet the people who once served up all night free parties in squats and fields and who now serve up nutritious food to vulnerable and displaced individuals in need, in the UK and abroad.

Head there early to hear how the UK Underground Party movement gave them the skills they now serve those in desperate need of sustenance and love - while also providing a moment in the day where people can gather and connect.

Proceeds from tickets sold will go to Refugee Community Kitchen.

-- Capacity in the the Rave Room is limited, book your tickets in advance to avoid any disappointment --

Level Up Supper Club

Come and join us in for a feast of delicious dishes from around the world in aid of Refugee Community Kitchen.

What’s included

We’ll be serving up a mouthwatering 3 course menu - all either sourced from the RCK recipe collection or from refugee friends who’ve been kind enough to share the secrets behind their favourite dishes from home.

There's a glass of wine or a soft drink and nibbles on arrival and you can BYOB for the table if you like. There will also be soft drinks and hot drinks available to purchase from the bar on the night.

The Menu

Even though I’m already super-excited about the food, as we’ll be sourcing as many seasonal ingredients as possible the full menu will be kept top secret until the night.

This way we can create a wide range of authentic and delicious meals from around the world using an awesome mix of local, sustainably sourced (where possible!) Sussex food.

What we can tell you is that the menu will be completely vegetarian, with vegan options available on request - you can opt-in for this when you buy your tickets.

Each ticket bought also includes a contribution towards a supper club ticket for a refugee or asylum seeker in Brighton.

Allergy information

As the kitchen is used for multiple settings, unfortunately nothing can be guaranteed to be allergen or gluten-free - if you have any concerns at all about allergies or intolerances, please get in touch: jess@levelupnutrition.co.uk
